The sections below provide an overview of the costs associated with Tier 5 visa applications.
The Staff Immigration Team has to pay the Certificate of Sponsorship application fee which is then charged back to the host department/ faculty/ college.
When submitting their visa applications online (after they have been issued a Tier 5 CoS) Tier 5 visa applicants and their dependants have to pay the following:
- Visa fee
- NHS surcharge
- any added priority services they decide to use
Card payments for visa fees
If a family application is being submitted (including dependants in the same application form) the visa fees, and the Immigration Health (NHS) Surcharge, will each be charged as one combined fee which cannot be split across more than one payment card. Any refunds (in the event of a withdrawn application, or overpayment of NHS Surcharge) will be returned to the card used for payment but this can sometimes take up to 2-3 months. Applicants may want to contact their bank before they pay large visa fees on their card to avoid this possibly being stopped or delayed as an unusually large purchase.
The University of Oxford reimbursement policy webpage sets out which of these costs can be covered by the employing department/ faculty college.
The University's Visa Loan Scheme does not, unfortunately cover Tier 5 applications.
