Updated Reimbursement Guidance

The Home Office have introduced a mandatory 10 day quarantine at government approved hotels for individuals entering England who have visited or passed through a country where travel to the UK is restricted (sometimes called 'red list country') in the 10 days before their arrival.

The cost of the quarantine is £1,750 plus £650 per extra adult or child over 12 and £325 for children between 5 and 12.

Extra costs can be incurred if they need to stay additional days.

In order to support new staff needed to quarantine, the University has amended its visa reimbursement policy:

Departments are normally expected to pay a new employees 'hotel quarantine' fees if this is required because they are coming from or travelling through a 'red list country'.

These fees should be paid for out of grants where allowed.

In addition, visa loans will now be available to cover dependant's fees for 'hotel quarantine'. The visa loan form has been updated to include quarantine cost.
