The Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme (YMS) visa route permits nationals of some countries (Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, San Marino, South Korea, and Taiwan) who are between 18 and 30 years old to come to work in the UK for 2 years.
The upper age limit has been increased from 30 to 35 for nationals of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and South Korea;
Applicants from Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, will be granted a 3-year visa, or can apply from within the UK to extend their visa for a 3rd year if they were granted a 2-year visa; and
From the 31 January 2024 this visa route has been expanded to also include applicants from Andorra and Uruguay. It is expected that this visa route will expand to more countries over time.
This visa route is sponsored by the applicant’s home country so the University is not involved in the application, but the Staff Immigration Team can help with queries about this visa route.
