The following improvements to the fast track routes under the Global Talent 'academic & research' criteria have been published:
Endorsed Funder
For researchers/specialist technical support who have been named or post is named on an external funded project from an eligible Endorsed Funder.
The length of time being offered or remaining on a contract of employment/host agreement has been reduced from 2 years to 1 year.
This opens up the Global Talent visa route to a number of international researchers who are working on an external funded grant. We encourage all HR colleagues to consider the full Endorsed Funder criteria before completing a Skilled Worker Certificate of Sponsorship request.
Individual Fellowship route
Two amendments to the individual fellowships route widening access to a greater number of potential applicants:
- Holders of eligible fellowships can now apply up to 5 years after the end of their fellowship (previously it was up to 12 months)
- Holders of eligible fellowships can now apply regardless of where in the world they have held their fellowship (previously the fellowship had to be held/have been held in the UK).
Prestigious prize 'super fast-track' route
An expanded list of prestigious prizes for holders of one of these prestigious prizes can apply for the Global Talent visa without going through the initial stage 1 endorsement.
Please contact Lisa Crook if you have any questions on an individual’s eligibility for a Global Talent visa.
